Asus is to bring out a 3g version of the recently released Nexus 7. According to MoDaCo‘s Paul O’Brien:
“Asus is currently ramping production in preparation for launch in around 6 weeks,” says O’Brien. While the Nexus 7 is Google’s baby, it’s actually Taiwanese manufacturer Asus that produces the tablets.
The 3g version will be useful for roaming, because data hot spots are often not always available everywhere you go.
However no details have been leaked regarding the price of the new version and it is unlikely there will be other hardware changes. Its’s a shame some of the tablets other short comings of the tablet are not being addressed, such as there being no 4G, no rear-facing camera and no way to expand the memory which is limited to only 16 GB of internal memory. But it still does offer some out standing specs when compared to it’s competitors within the price range it is being sold at, such as a fast quad-core CPU and a build quality which is said to be solid.
